Three generations, one farm, and sixty-odd Christmases of doing one thing properly.
Hogan's Farm began in 1962 at Charlesfort Estate outside Kells, when the first generation of the family reared turkeys for neighbours and the local Christmas market. Word travelled the way it does in Meath, over gates and after Mass, and the flock grew with it.
Sixty years on, the third generation runs the same land with the same idea: rear the bird slowly, prepare it by hand, and stand behind it with your own name. Along the way the farm has picked up national recognition, including Gold at the National Irish Food Awards and honours for the coffee shop, but the measure we care most about is the customers who come back every December, some of them now the third generation of their own families to do so.
Today Hogan's is a working turkey farm, butchery, farm shop and coffee shop. You can order online for delivery to any county in Ireland, or come to the farm gate, collect your bird and see exactly where it was reared. Either way, it is the same turkey, from the same family, off the same land.
